René Gonzalez

René Gonzalez (born October 25, 1943 in Paris , † April 18, 2012 in Morges , Switzerland ) was a French actor , director and theater manager .

Life

Gonzalez initially worked as an actor and was part of the permanent ensemble of the Théâtre Gérard Philipe (TGP) in Saint-Denis . From 1976 to 1985 he headed the TGP. From 1985 to 1988 Gonzalez was artistic director of the MC93 in Bobigny and in 1989 he prepared the opening of the Opéra Bastille . Matthias Langhoff brought him to Lausanne in 1990 , and in 1991 he took over the management of the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne from him .

In the twenty years under his direction, the theater program in Lausanne has been expanded to include new forms of play and interdisciplinary projects. Gonzalo-du-Lac , as he was amicably called, also set up a venue in a theater tent, le Chapiteau . Under his leadership, the theater participated in international co-productions.
