René Kramer (born April 8, 1969 in Leoben ) is an Austrian handball player (1984-2000) and coach (since 2000).

Career as a player

As a circle runner, René Kramer played for 12 years in the 1st division (HLA) in Austria at HC Sparkasse Bruck an der Mur and HC SAG Graz . As a teenager he started at the handball club Union Leoben and at the age of 18 went to HC Sparkasse Bruck an der Mur. After three years he switched to league competitor HC SAG Graz, where he stayed until 1996. He then returned to HC Sparkasse Bruck an der Mur, where he worked until 2000. Then he ended his career.

Success as a player

International:

  • 4th place at the Handball Super Globe (Club World Championship) with HC Sparkasse Bruck an der Mur 1997 in Wiener Neustadt, Austria

National:

  • 2 × Austrian champion with HC Sparkasse Bruck an der Mur in 1997 and 1998
  • 3 × 3rd place at the Austrian championships with HC Sparkasse Bruck an der Mur in 1988, 1989 and 1990

Training as a trainer

Career as a coach

After the end of his active career in 2000, Kramer began to work as a coach for young people: Among other things, he was the coach of a U-15 team at HC Bruck. 2003-2010 he trained the HC Bruck fighting team. At the same time, from 2008 to 2014, he was in charge of the Austrian men's national handball team born in 1992. 2011–2012 he also looked after the Styrian national team of the born 1995 and 1996. 2017–2019 he was in charge of the Italian first division handball team SSV Brixen.

Career as a sports director

2010–2016 he was the sporting director at HC Bruck and was in charge of the combat team and all youth teams.
