René Mitteregger (born July 9, 1977 in Leoben ) is a former Austrian football player .

Career

Mitteregger began his career at FC Rot-Weiß Knittelfeld . For the 1996/97 season he moved to the second division club DSV Leoben . He made his debut for Leoben in the second division in July 1996 when he was in the starting line-up against VfB Mödling on the first day of the season and was replaced by Jürgen Saler in the 58th minute . In his two years with Leoben, he completed 37 second division games in which he did not score.

For the 1998/99 season Mitteregger moved to the Bundesliga club SK Rapid Vienna . He played his first and only game for Rapid in the Bundesliga in April 1999 when he was substituted on for Jürgen Saler on the 30th day of that season against the Grazer AK in the 90th minute.

After a season at Rapid, he moved to second division VfB Admira Wacker Mödling in the summer of 1999 . In September 1999 he scored his first goal in the second division in a 1-0 win against FCN St. Pölten . In 2000 he rose to the Bundesliga with Admira. In the 1999/2000 promotion season he made 13 second division appearances for the Lower Austrians.

After promotion, he joined the regional league team FC Zeltweg for the 2000/01 season . After two seasons at Zeltweg, he moved to league rivals FC Gratkorn in the summer of 2002 . With Gratkorn he rose to the second highest division in 2004. For Gratkorn he then completed over 100 games in the second Austrian division. After six years at the club, he returned to the now fifth-class FC Zeltweg in 2008. With Zeltweg he was promoted to the state league in 2012 . In this Mitteregger completed 25 games in the 2012/13 season, but at the end of the season they rose again from the state league.

He then moved to the fifth class ESV Knittelfeld . After four seasons at Knittelfeld, Mitteregger ended his active career after the 2016/17 season.
