René Obst (born June 21, 1977 in Görlitz ) is a former German cyclist . He was a professional from 2003 to 2012 .

At the end of the 2002 season, René Obst had already test-driven the Wiesenhof jersey. After driving for three years with the Berlin KED-Bianchi-Team, as the best of three trainees , he actually received a contract with the Wiesenhof sports group. Obst was particularly impressed with his stage win at the end of the Brandenburg Tour in 2002. In 2003 he finished second behind his team colleague Eric Baumann on the podium at Rund um Fürth. On the Brandenburg Tour of that year, he won the royal stage and thus secured another commitment in the Wiesenhof team . With his team-friendly driving style, René Obst was also an important helper in the team in 2005. In 2006, Obst drove with Continental Team Milram , but left it again at the end of the year.

He ended his career at the end of the 2012 season and has been a member of the elite team at Dresdner SC ever since and is responsible for the racing bike division.
