René Marcel Risacher (born June 4, 1895 in Paris , † October 7, 1988 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye , France ) was a French documentary producer and director .

Live and act

Little is known about Risacher's origins and early years; even French sources hardly mention him until World War II. Born in Paris, he received a commercial training and shortly after the end of the First World War , in 1919, founded his own advertising agency, Risacher Publicité. In 1926 Risacher expanded his field of work and also produced advertising films with his company.

In the middle of the Second World War Risacher switched to film production and produced mostly short documentaries and cartoons with his own company, Les films René Risacher, especially after the liberation from German occupation in 1945. One of them, the full-length film Crèvecœur , which is sponsored by the French Ministry of Defense and tells the story of a French volunteer who volunteers for the Korean War under the umbrella of the UN , was even nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Documentary in 1956 . Despite this great success, Risacher completely stopped filming that same year.
