René Schérer

René Schérer (born November 25, 1922 in Tulle ) is a French philosopher.

life and work

Schérer studied at the Lycée Edmond Perrier and at the École normal supérieure and is professor emeritus at the Université de Paris VIII (Vincennes). He is the brother of the filmmaker Éric Rohmer (Maurice Schérer). Schérer describes himself as a «fouriériste» and is co-editor of the writings Charles Fouriers and Gabriel Tardes .

In his work he deals with the community, phenomenology (especially the Husserls ), ecosophy, childhood, utopia and hospitality, as well as the philosophical awakening of May 1968. Influenced by Charles Fourier, Schérer's thinking approaches the work of Gilles Deleuze and Michel Foucault . He also works on the magazine “Chimères” founded by Deleuze and Félix Guattari .
