René Theler

René Theler (* 29. September 1935 in Berlin , heimatberechtigt in Ausserberg ) is a Swiss manager , former bobsledder and Football Club - President .

Life

René Theler was born in Berlin as the son of Alice Wiskemann and Juan Pablo Theler. He studied economics at the University of Basel and received his doctorate.

economy

In 1972 Theler was appointed General Director of the Swiss National Insurance Company . He has been a member of the local board of directors since 1985 and has held the office of president since 1995.

He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bonizzi Theler Foundation .

Theler lives in St. Moritz and has a second home on Mallorca .

Bobsledder

His brother, Hans Theler , became world champion in the four-man bobsleigh in 1957. René Theler himself became European champion in 1958 and 1959 and twice Swiss champion.

Soccer

From 1976 to 1980 he was president of FC Basel , where he won the championship title twice with the club.
