Renate Meixner-Römer

Renate Meixner Romans (* 23. August 1960 ) is a SPD - politician , former City Council Head of Rüsselsheim and former member of the Hessian parliament .

From August 2000, Meixner-Römer worked as headmistress at the Otto Hahn School in Rüsselsheim in the Bauschheim district until she moved into the state parliament in 2008. Since losing her seat in the state parliament in 2009, she has been back in the school service and has been given the position of headmistress of the Albrecht Dürer School in Rüsselsheim.

Renate Meixner-Römer is married and has three children.

Municipal activities in Rüsselsheim

Renate Meixner-Römer has been a city councilor for the SPD in Rüsselsheim since 1989. From 1997 to 1999 she was deputy parliamentary group leader of the SPD in the Rüsselsheim city parliament. There she became group leader in October 1999. She held this office until March 2006. From October 1999 to March 2001 she was also the chairman of the main committee and from March 2001 to March 2006 she was chairman of the culture, school and sports committee. Until April 2011 she was the head of the city council of Rüsselsheim.

Furthermore, she was the top candidate of the SPD in the local elections in 1997, 2001 and 2006. Also in 2011 she led the SPD list in the local elections. The SPD lost 8.6% of the vote in this election, and the CDU became the strongest force in Rüsselsheim. Ms. Meixner-Römer ran for the SPD in the mayoral election on September 4, 2011. However, she was eliminated in the first ballot with just 28.1% of the vote. Patrick Burghardt (CDU) won the runoff election against incumbent mayor Jo Dreiseitel (Greens).

Parliamentary work

In the state elections in Hesse in 1999 Meixner-Romans deputy was the member of parliament Gerold Reichenbach for the constituency 47 Gross-Gerau I . After Reichenbach was elected to the Bundestag and resigned from the Landtag, she was a member of the Hessian Landtag from October 2002 to March 2003. In the state elections in Hesse in 2003 , her candidacy for the state parliament failed because she was defeated by the SPD Wolfgang Schneider when the candidates were drawn up. He then lost the direct mandate that had been secure for the SPD for decades to the CDU candidate Roger Lenhart . In the state elections in Hesse in 2008 on January 27, 2008, she was able to win back the mandate from Lenhart, who thus lost his state parliament mandate because he was not adequately covered on the CDU state list. In the state elections in Hesse in 2009 , it was again Meixner-Römer who lost the constituency to the then 28-year-old CDU candidate Patrick Burghardt and left the state parliament.

Participation in parties and unions

Meixner-Römer joined the SPD in 1984. She is also a member of the Rüsselsheim / Bauschheim Workers' Welfare Association and the GEW trade union . Renate Meixner-Römer is also a member of the THW Förderverein Rüsselsheim.
