Gerold Reichenbach (born September 28, 1953 in Geinsheim am Rhein ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the German Bundestag from 2002 to 2017 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1972, Reichenbach completed a teaching degree in German and social studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , which he completed in 1978 with the first state examination for teaching at grammar schools . During his studies he was a research assistant to Professor Ernst Erich Noth . After completing his legal clerkship , he passed the second state examination in 1980 and then worked as a grammar school teacher until 1995, first in Darmstadt and later in Groß-Gerau .

Political party

Reichenbach joined the SPD in 1976 and was initially involved with the Jusos , whose sub-district chairman in Groß-Gerau he was from 1980 to 1981.

From 1984 to 1990 Reichenbach was a member of the executive committee of the SPD sub-district Groß-Gerau. 2008–2009 he was chairman there, 2009–2014 deputy chairman. Since 2000 he has been a member of the SPD district committee for Hesse- South.

MP

Reichenbach was a member of the Trebur municipal council from 1981 to 1999 . From 1988 to 2010 he was a member of the district council of the Groß-Gerau district , where he was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1994 to 2004. From 1995 to 2002, Reichenbach was also a member of the Hessian state parliament , into which he was drawn as a directly elected member of the Groß-Gerau I constituency . During this time he was the housing policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group.

From 2002 he was a member of the German Bundestag . From 2005 he was deputy spokesman for the Hesse state group in the SPD parliamentary group . He was a member of the parliamentary left group.

Gerold Reichenbach moved into the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Groß-Gerau constituency in 2002 and 2005 . In 2009 and 2013 he moved back into the Bundestag via the state list. In the 18th electoral term he was a member of the Bundestag Interior Committee and a member of the Digital Agenda Committee .

Volunteering

Reichenbach is the state chairman of the supporters and helpers of the Technischen Hilfswerk e. V. in Hessen and member of the executive committee of the THW-Bundesvereinigung eV Aid missions, among others with the THW and the UN, led to Costa Rica (1991), Turkey (1999), Mostar (1994) and Mozambique (2000). He also provided help with the Oder floods (1997) and the Elbe floods (2002) . From January 2011 to December 2015 he was federal chairman of the German Committee for Disaster Preparedness. V. Reichenbach is a member of the SEEBA and the disaster control team of the district of Groß-Gerau.

Reichenbach has drawn more than 1,000 caricatures so far. Some of the works were shown in an exhibition at Dornberg Castle in Groß-Gerau in 2013 with the title significant - drawn .
