The 2017 federal election took place on Sunday, September 24, 2017. In Hesse , 20 parties had applied with their state list. The Alliance of German Democrats withdrew their application. The violet one was rejected by the state election committee because the required two thousand signatures for support were not presented. Thus 18 parties apply with their state lists in Hesse. A total of 353 applicants ran on the state lists, not quite a third (114) of them women.
