Eberhard Weghorn (born August 1, 1947 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former Hessian politician ( FDP ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

Eberhard Weghorn graduated from high school in Schlüchtern in 1966 and then served in the Federal Border Guard until 1968 . He then studied sociology and law at the University of Frankfurt . After the first (1974) and second state examination (1977), Weghorn worked as a lawyer.

politics

Eberhard Weghorn has been a member of the FDP since 1969. From 1971 to 1972 he was state chairman of the Young Democrats , the former youth organization of the FDP. Weghorn had been a state board member of the FDP since 1975, and since 1985 district chairman of Untermain.

Weghorn was active for many years as a city councilor in Steinau and in the association assembly of the State Welfare Association of Hesse .

From February 6, 1975 to November 30, 1982 and again from October 13, 1983 to April 4, 1991, Eberhard Weghorn was a member of the Hessian state parliament. He ran for the constituency Main-Kinzig III , but was always elected from the FDP state list. From August 26, 1981 to December 1, 1982 he was Deputy President of the State Parliament. Since October 13, 1983 he was deputy FDP parliamentary group leader. Before that, from December 5, 1978 to November 30, 1982, he was the parliamentary manager of his group.

In May 1987 Weghorn suffered a serious car accident and was in a coma. Since the state government under Walter Wallmann only had one vote majority in the state parliament, this meant that the opposition consisting of the SPD and the Greens was able to delay the adoption of the "Law to Restore Free School Elections in the State of Hesse". By moving out of the state parliament, the opposition factions made the state parliament incapable of making decisions. This boycott was so badly received by the public that after three unsuccessful attempts, the law was passed a week later than planned.

Others

Weghorn was temporarily a member of the board of trustees of the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Memorial Foundation .
