Stefan Sauer

Stefan Sauer (born January 14, 1966 in Rüsselsheim ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2007 to 2017 he held the office of mayor of the district town of Groß-Gerau . Since October 2017, Stefan Sauer has been a directly elected member of the 19th German Bundestag.

education and profession

Sauer attended the Max Planck School in Rüsselsheim am Main and the Prälat Diehl High School in Groß-Gerau during his school days . After graduating from high school , he trained as an industrial clerk at Carl Schenck AG in Darmstadt and studied business administration at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

From 1995 to 1996 he worked in the controlling department at Opel Bank GmbH in Rüsselsheim. From 1996 to 2002 he worked at the Kreissparkasse Groß-Gerau. He then worked from 2002 to 2007 at TxB Transaktionsbank GmbH in Frankfurt am Main, where he was Deputy Bank Director and Head of Bank Services.

Sauer has been a member of the city parliament of Groß-Gerau since 1993. After no candidate obtained the necessary majority on March 4, 2007, he was elected mayor of the city on March 18 in a runoff election with 67.6% of the votes. Sauer was able to assert himself against his competitor from the municipal citizens' interest group (KOMBI). On January 20, 2013, Sauer was re-elected for a further term with 73.5% of the vote.

In the federal election on September 24, 2017, he ran in the federal constituency of Groß-Gerau . He moved into the 19th German Bundestag as a directly elected member. Sauer resigned from his office as mayor and was represented by the First City Councilor Richard Zarges (KOMBI) until the election and swearing-in of a new mayor.
