The  2017 Bundestag election will take place on Sunday, September 24, 2017. In Hessen , 20 parties applied with their state list. The Alliance of German Democrats withdrew their application. The violet one was rejected by the state election committee because the required two thousand signatures for support were not presented. Thus 18 parties apply with their state lists in Hesse. A total of 353 applicants are running on the state lists, less than a third (114) of them women.

In comparison, the constituency of Sandwiese in Alsbach-Hähnlein showed the nationwide result most accurately: for the six major parties, an average deviation of just 0.3 percentage points from the nationwide overall result was achieved.

Although Andreas Storm was secured in the apparently safe 4th place on the state list, he could not move into the Bundestag via the state list, since the CDU achieved 15 direct mandates in Hesse. Since the Hessian Union also obtained 15 seats in accordance with second votes, not a single Hessian CDU member was elected via the state list.

Daniela Wagner, on the other hand, entered the Bundestag via the state list of the Greens.
