Life

After graduating from high school in 1927 at the old secondary school in Frankfurt am Main, Rodemer studied law and political science, economics, history and art history in Frankfurt am Main and Vienna . He finished his studies in 1933 with the first state examination in law and worked as an editor in Darmstadt and Berlin from 1934 to 1940 . Since August 1, 1932 he was a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 1.202.316).

From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . Also from 1940 Rodemer worked in the Reich Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda , from which he (1942?) Had himself transferred to propaganda companies in the army as a “word reporter” . In 1944 he moved to the staff of the Reich Press Chief in the Führer Headquarters , where he was possibly used for the foreign intelligence service.

As a special leader (Z) of a propaganda company, Rodemer wrote the brochure Gebirgsjäger in Greece in 1942 for the war library of German youth .

Rodemer held a commercial position in Darmstadt from 1946 to 1949, then turned back to journalism and was editor-in-chief of the Deutsches Kurier in Frankfurt / Main from 1949 to 1957 .

Rodemer joined the FDP in 1948 . He was chairman of the FDP district of North Hesse and temporarily a member of the executive board of the Hessian Liberals.

Rodemer was a member of the city council of Darmstadt from 1952 to 1956 . He was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1954 to 1970 , was deputy chairman there from 1958 to 1965 and from 1968 to 1970, and chairman of the FDP parliamentary group from 1965 to 1968. In the federal election in 1953 , he ran for 10th place on the Hessian state list of the FDP. Since this only received 9 seats, he was not a member of the Bundestag.

From 1958 to 1960 he was an honorary city councilor in Darmstadt. From 1960 to 1970 he was mayor of Bad Wildungen . He was elected to this office on June 27, 1960 with 14 votes out of 24. In 1966 he was confirmed in office with 23 of 25 votes.
