The 2013 federal election took place on Sunday, September 22, 2013, together with the 2013 state election in Hesse . In Hesse, 16 parties have applied for a place on the list. The ÖDP has withdrawn its list. This meant that 15 parties could be elected nationwide. The approved state lists are listed in the order in which they appear on the voting slip.

The candidate of the FDP, Dagmar Döring, announced that she would not run after an article that was friendly to pedophilia and published in 1980 became known. According to the district election officer, such a waiver is not possible after the approval of a district election proposal - Döring thus remained a direct candidate in terms of voting rights and was on the ballot papers despite the waiver.
