Ernst Holtzmann (born November 21, 1902 in Gießen ; † July 14, 1996 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

Ernst Holtzmann was the son of the theologian Oskar Holtzmann . After graduating from high school in 1921, he studied law and political science in Giessen and Munich and completed his studies in 1928 with the state examination and in 1930 with a doctorate. Jur. From.

1928-1941 he worked in the city administration Darmstadt and did his 1941-1945 military service . On June 1, 1940 he was admitted to the NSDAP ( membership number 7.655.333). From 1945 to 1947 he worked as a lawyer and in 1948 became City Councilor in Darmstadt. The forest lover has published some of his drawings in small volumes.

Ernst Holtzmann was a member of the CDU. Since December 1, 1954, he was a member of the Hessian state parliament. On November 30, 1966, he left the state parliament. From June 1962 to November 1967 he was mayor of Darmstadt. In 1964 he was a member of the 4th Federal Assembly .

In 1955, Holtzmann was one of the first signatories to found the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation ( in the DKR ) in Darmstadt. In the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau (EKHN) he was active in the Church Synod . Until 1988 he worked as a long-term, honorary board member of the Hessian Diakonieverein.

In 1968 he was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
