The Col d'Ornon is an alpine pass in the French department of Isère in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region .
The pass road, which can be driven on, connects the town of Le Bourg-d'Oisans in the valley of the Romanche (south of L'Alpe d'Huez ) at an altitude of 728 m , via the eponymous hamlet Ornon in the north and on to Chantelouve in the south, with the municipality of Entraigues and the village of Valbonnais , located at 673 m above sea level , capital of the canton of Valbonnais , in the valley of the Drac river .
The pass is at an altitude of 1367 m . The maximum gradient is 8%. In the west is the Massif du Taillefer , in the east the Massif des Écrins . The distance between Bourg-d'Oisans and Entraigues is around 30 km. Col d'Ornon is also a small winter sports area.
