The Col de la Lombarde ( Italian Colle della Lombarda ) is a road pass in the Maritime Alps that is passable in the summer months . The pass has a height of 2350  m slm and marks the border between the French department Alpes-Maritimes and the Italian region Piedmont .

The pass lies between the mountains Cime de la Lombarde ( 2800  m ) in the northeast and the Tête de l'Adrech ( 2475  m ) in the southwest.

The retort ski resort Isola 2000 is on the French side . There the Tour de France had a mountain finish in 1993 and the start of the 12th stage.

The expansion of the road between Isola and Isola 2000 is a good two-lane, in the further course the road narrows to a partially single-lane but still paved road.

Cycling

The Tour de France crossed the pass for the first time on July 21, 2008 during the 16th stage from Cuneo to Jausiers . The pass counted in the highest category (hors categorie) in the mountain classification, the classification was won by the German driver Stefan Schumacher .

The Giro d'Italia last ran over the pass on May 28, 2016. It was the 20th stage from Guillestre to Vinadio . The participants had to conquer the Col de Vars (2108 m) and the Col de la Bonette (2715 m) on the same day .
