Isola 2000

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Isola 2000 is a winter sports resort in the French Maritime Alps . It belongs to the municipality of Isola in the Alpes-Maritimes department and has an average altitude of 2000 meters.

The field of "Alpe Ciastiglione" ( French Chastillon ) below the border pass Col de la Lombarde on which the retort ski resort was built as a so-called "integrated station", first became a part 1947 to France after Italy it as a consequence of the Paris Peace Conference cede had to.

The ski resort was built in 1972 not according to aesthetic but rather practical aspects. Many different apartment houses are connected by a long shopping street, so that no one has to go outside in bad weather. The slopes start right at the station, so you can ski straight from the apartment, so to speak.

Skiers will find 120 kilometers of slopes here, of which four black slopes , eleven red, 21 blue and seven green. Two gondolas, nine chair lifts and ten button lifts ensure that there are hardly any long waiting times. The lowest point of the ski area is 1,800 meters above sea level, the highest at 2,610 on the Cime de Sistron. From here you can even see the Mediterranean Sea in very good weather. Due to the proximity to the Côte d'Azur , you can look forward to a lot of sunshine here, even on winter holidays, but due to the altitude, the snow often remains until April.
