The Passo dello Zovo is an alpine pass in the Vicentine Alps with a pass height of 631 m slm. It connects the two towns of Schio and Valdagno , which are located in Val Leogra and in the Valle dell'Agno . At the top of the pass, the districts of both communities border each other.

The approximately 9 km long Strada provinciale 45 Passo Zovo (SP 45) runs over the pass , a narrow, winding pass road that vehicles over a length of 12 m or trucks over 3.5 t are not allowed to use. It begins on the west side in Novale , a fraction of Valdagno and leads over five hairpin bends and past several farmsteads steadily uphill to the pass and then descends past the small settlement of Monte Magrè to Magrè , a fraction of Schio.

For decades the pass was the main link between the two valleys, until the road tunnel was put into operation in 1998 , creating a faster connection between the two centers of Upper Vicentino .

Giro d'Italia

The Giro d'Italia led on May 29, 1998 over the Passo dello Zovo. After the ascent from Valdagno, the leaders Alex Zülle and Marco Pantani fell on the descent to Schio, which enabled Michele Bartoli to win the stage .
