The Forcola di Livigno is a pass between the Swiss canton of Graubünden and Italy . It is located between the Poschiavo and Livigno , the pass height is 2315 m slm
geography
The watershed between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean ( Danube - Po watershed) runs along it . It is the only pass between Switzerland and Italy where you change from the southern side of the Alps from Switzerland to the northern side of the Alps to Italy.
The road over the pass branches off from the south ramp of the Bernina Pass . In the summer months it offers a cheaper alternative to the route to Livigno, as the Munt-la-Schera tunnel on Lake Livigno is chargeable. The pass is closed in winter. In September 2016, the government of the Canton of Graubünden decided to open the passport on the first Monday in June at the earliest and to close it on the last Friday in November at the latest. We reserve the right to open it later or close it earlier due to the risk of avalanches.
