tunnel

The Chemin de fer Pont-Vallorbe built a railway tunnel through the Mont d'Orzeires through which the Vallorbe-Le Brassus trains pass. The tunnel was built on the basis of a petition from the inhabitants of the Vallées in 1867 and opened in 1886. It had a double function, as it was not only used for rail transport, but also, in the event of an extraordinary flood, could drain the water from the two lakes.
