The Col du Marchairuz is a mountain pass in the Swiss canton of Vaud , which connects the villages of Le Brassus and Bière over a pass length of 18 kilometers . The pass is at 1,447 m above sea level. M. From Saint-George , an equivalent road (the Route du Marchairuz) leads from the south up to the pass road, which it reaches about 3.6 km before the top of the pass.
The Col du Marchairuz connects the La Côte wine region on Lake Geneva with the Lac de Joux in the high valley of Vallée de Joux all year round .
Lock point Col du Marchairuz
To the north of the pass, shortly before the Second World War, a blocking point for Border Brigade 1 with two machine gun bunkers , an infantry cannon shield and two solitaires was built to secure the Swiss western border .
