The Challpass is 747 m above sea level. M. high mountain pass in the Swiss chain Jura southwest of Basel on the border of the cantons of Basel-Landschaft and Solothurn .
The pass leads from Metzerlen in the rear Leimental over the Blauen to Laufen im Laufental . Until the Laufental joined the Canton of Basel-Landschaft (1994), it led from the Canton of Solothurn (north side) to the Canton of Bern .
The naming should stem from the fact that it was a bare height (without trees).
To the west of the pass is the Challhöchi ( 804 m above sea level ), to the east of the Challplatten / Brunneberg ( 875 m above sea level ). When the Challhöchi is spoken of in the region , it is often not this height that is meant , but the mountain pass of the same name near the Swiss Belchen .
