The Jaunpass connects the Gruyère region in Friborg with the Simmental in the Bernese Oberland . It is located between Broc and Reidenbach (municipality of Boltigen ) and leads through Jaun , the only German-speaking municipality in the Gruyère region. The top of the pass is at 1509 m in the municipality of Boltigen.
history
After the Franco-Prussian War , it was decided to build a military road for strategic reasons in order to connect the important military centers of Bulle and Thun , which was finally completed in 1878. In 1941 the Jaunpass artillery plant was built on the pass .
Today, with a restaurant on the top of the pass and winter sports facilities, the focus is on tourist use.
