In winter, the owners of the Sattelegg restaurant operate an iron-bar ski lift, which is ideal for beginners. The Swiss ski school also has a training location on the Sattelegg.
A few times a year there are alpine services in the chapel on the Sattelegg. From the Sattelegg you can go hiking, e.g. B. on the Little Aubrig or over the Rinderweidhorn on the Stöcklichrüz. The Sattelegg is also very popular with motorcyclists and cyclists.
The Satteleggstrasse was built during the Second World War for military reasons and under the supervision of the 4th Army Corps as a route of retreat into the Réduit from the lock point of the Linth Plain in Central Switzerland and as a job creation measure. At times over 1000 people, including around 400 Polish war internees , built on the road. Compressors, taxiways and three large road rollers were available as construction machines, and most of the work had to be done by hand. Teams of horses were used for transports. The road was completed on March 30, 1942. In 1959, the canton of Schwyz took over the pass road and later paved the entire route.
