Wital Rymascheuski ( Belarusian Віталь Рымашэўскі ; * 1975) is a Belarusian politician .

Life

Rymascheuski studied at the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) and was one of the founders of Malady Front , the largest democratic youth organization in Belarus. In 2005 he organized, together with other former Malady Front members, the re-establishment of the Belarusian Christian Democrats (BCD). As vice chairman of the party, he ran for the 2010 presidential election in Belarus .

After the first large-scale demonstration organized by opponents of the government on November 24, 2010 in the capital Minsk , Rymascheuski and Uladzimir Njakljajeu from the “Speak the Truth” campaign threatened to be excluded from the election. Both politicians were warned by the public prosecutor for their participation in the demonstration. Rymascheuski was ultimately allowed to participate in the election and reached sixth place with 1.1% of the votes. OSCE election observers criticized the fact that the election did not meet democratic requirements. In the weeks following the presidential election, there was a wave of house searches and arrests. Rymascheuski was arrested on the night of December 19-20, 2010 after authorities broke up a rally against the falsification of presidential election results. On May 20, 2011, a Minsk court found Rymascheuski guilty and sentenced him to a suspended sentence of two years.
