The Col de la Colle-Saint-Michel is a 1,431 m high pass in the French Maritime Alps in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department . The top of the pass is in the town of Colle-Saint-Michel, which gives it its name.
The north ascent begins in the Verdon valley a little south of Thorame-Haute at an altitude of about 1100 m. More often in the forest, it leads to the unwooded pass summit in the village with a mostly even gradient. On the south side, the RD 908 branches off from the N 202 and runs in the Vaïre valley through the towns of Annot and Le Fugeret . After crossing the river, the road rises on the western slope and often offers a clear view of the deeply cut valley floor. The last part of the route mostly leads through forest to the pass.
The southern approach is accompanied in the lower part by the railway line from Nice to Digne-les-Bains . In the higher part of the valley, this remains roughly level with the Vaïre before it reaches the Verdon valley through a tunnel that runs almost directly below the top of the pass.
