Astrid Luise Mannes (born January 2, 1967 in Hilden ) is a German author and politician ( CDU ). She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 as a directly elected member of the Darmstadt constituency . Before that she was Mayor of Mühltal ( Hesse ) from November 2007 .

Life

Astrid Mannes completed her master's degree in 1991 in history (major), political science and public law. In 1992/93 she worked for the Association of Expellees . From 1993 to 2000 she worked as a research assistant in the German Bundestag . From 2001 to 2003 she was press spokeswoman for the German Didacta Association.

In 2005 she did her doctorate with a biography about the Reich Chancellor Constantin Fehrenbach .

politics

In 1986/87 Astrid Mannes was chairman of the RCDS parliamentary group in Bonn's student parliament. In 1990 she joined the CDU. There she was active in various committees / party boards. From 2006 to 2008 she was district chairwoman of the Darmstadt-Dieburg Women's Union . In 2007 she ran for the office of mayor in the municipality of Mühltal in Hesse. She was elected mayor of this municipality on July 1, 2007 and took office on November 28, 2007. Astrid Mannes was confirmed in office in the mayoral election on June 9, 2013.

Astrid Mannes was elected to the district council on March 27, 2011. She is an assessor in the CDU district executive committee for South Hesse.

In the federal election on September 24, 2017, Astrid Mannes moved into the Bundestag for the CDU as a directly elected member of the Darmstadt constituency.
