Gerald Weiß (politician)

Gerald Weiß (born July 12, 1945 in Rüsselsheim ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

From 2005 to 2009 he was chairman of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs of the German Bundestag.

Life and work

After graduating from the Begemann- Wirtschaftsgymnasium in Frankfurt am Main , Weiss completed a degree in business education at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , which he completed in 1971 as a business teacher . From 1972 to 1975 he was a lecturer at a business school in Frankfurt am Main. Since 1991 he has been working as a freelance management consultant in Rüsselsheim with Weiß Consult GmbH .

Gerald Weiß is married and has two children.

Political party

Weiß has been a member of the CDU since 1968. From 1990 to 2000 he was chairman of the CDU district association Groß-Gerau . From 1997 to 2007 he was chairman of the Hessen State Association of Christian Democratic Workers (CDA) and since 2005 deputy federal chairman of the CDA.

MP

From 1974 to 1987 and from 1991 to 1998 Weiß was a member of the Hessian state parliament . He ran in the constituency of Groß-Gerau I , but was elected to parliament via the CDU state list.

From 1998 to 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag . From April 2000 to October 2009 he was chairman of the workers' group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and from November 2005 to October 2009 he was chairman of the committee for labor and social affairs.

Gerald Weiß has always entered the Bundestag via the Hesse state list.

Public offices

From 1987 to 1991, Weiß was a State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs in the state government led by Prime Minister Walter Wallmann .
