Bauschheim is a district of Rüsselsheim am Main southwest of the city center in the southern Hessian district of Groß-Gerau .
history
Bauschheim was first mentioned in a document as a Biuuinesheim in the Lorsch Reichsurbar in the Lorsch Codex around (834-850), but is older and emerged as a settlement during the Frankish conquest . In the High Middle Ages, the sources are silent about the history of the place and only since the second half of the 13th century have more precise written information about the land ownership and sovereign rights in Bauschheim been handed down. In the historical documents, Bauschheim is mentioned in the following centuries with these place names, among others : Buensheim in 1258, Buesheim 1392, Buwesheim 1428, Bißheym 1497, Biffesheym 1515, Bischeim 1527, Bawßheim 1540 and Bauschheim from 1680.
In 1269 Johannes de Meti sold half of the village to the Mainz judge Humbert zum Widder, who a few years later gave his property to the Mainz nuns of St. Clare . Until the secularization of its estates in 1781, the Klarakloster was one of the most important landlords of the place , alongside the spiritual institute in Mainz, the House of the Teutonic Order and the parish church of Saint Quintin . In the second half of the 15th century, the Counts of Katzenelnbogen succeeded in gaining control of important sovereign rights and extensive property; these passed in 1479 to the Landgraves of Hesse , who among other things raised the tithe in 1571 and exercised jurisdiction and can thus be regarded as the actual masters of the place. In 1771 the Zehnthof became the property of the Counts of Isenburg .
Administratively, Bauschheim belonged to the Rüsselsheim office until 1820 , which from 1816 belonged to the Starkenburg province of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . In 1821 district districts were introduced in the Grand Duchy and Bauschheim was allocated to the district of Dornberg .
The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Bauschheim in 1829:
»Bauschheim (L. Bez. Dornberg) Lutheran parish village; is 2 1 / 4 St. of Dornberg, and has 72 houses and 404 inh., up to 6 Kath. Jews and 13 are all Lutheran. The place used to appear under the name Biewinesheim and Buwesheim , in which the Lorsch monastery was wealthy. Since this village was a branch of the original Munzenberg town of Ginsheim, it seems that this also belonged to Mr. von Munzenberg. The Counts of Katzenellenbogen probably acquired Bauschheim from the Munzenberg heirs. As noted, the place was a branch of Ginsheim, but had its own with two altars and was elevated to the Mother Church in 1591. "
In 1832 the units were enlarged one more time and circles were created. This brought Bauschheim to the Groß-Gerau district. The provinces, the counties and the administrative districts of the Grand Duchy were abolished on July 31, 1848 and replaced by administrative districts, but this was reversed on May 12, 1852. As a result, Bauschheim belonged to the Darmstadt administrative district between 1848 and 1852 before the Groß-Gerau district was again responsible for the higher-level administration. The place remains there until today due to all further administrative reforms.
In the Middle Ages, Bauschheim was not assigned to its own parish, but to the mother church in Ginsheim . For a short time (around 1530) the Bauschheim church is also mentioned as a branch of Trebur . During the Reformation , the residents of the village converted to the Protestant faith. After it was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War , the Bauschheim Church was rebuilt in 1669 and, after it was demolished, rebuilt in 1712 as a hip-roofed hall on Brunnenstrasse. The court rides that still characterize the town today are evidence of the rural tradition of the community.
The gradual decline of agriculture led to a fundamental change in the structure of the labor force, as many residents now earned their living in the nearby industry . As a consequence of the orientation towards Rüsselsheim in the course of the regional reform in Hesse in 1970, the voluntary incorporation of Bauschheim with around 2800 inhabitants at that time took place.

The local advisory board consists of nine members. Since the local elections in 2016, it has had four members of the CDU , two members of the SPD and three members of the “Bauschheimer Free List”. The mayor is Werner Stahl (CDU).
Culture and sights
In addition to a number of bars, the community center is very popular as the central event location. Clubs cover almost all areas of interest - from music to motorsport, from the carnival of the "Bauschheimer Narrenzunft" to the curb. There is also a library in the Bauschheim district.
Also worth seeing is the Bauschheimer Dorfbrunnen in front of the Protestant church built as a hall church in 1712. The original of the fountain is in the Rüsselsheim City and Industry Museum.
Natural monuments
At 96.4 meters, the Bauschheimer Kalkhügel is the highest natural elevation in the Groß-Gerau district . The hill was formed about 15 million years ago. The limestone hill consists of shell limestone deposits that were pressed upwards.
societies
The largest local association is the SKG Bauschheim. In addition to a wide range of sporting activities such as handball , football , table tennis , cycling , hiking and other sports, the club also has a musical train and several choirs. The club was founded in 1946 through the merger of the former gymnastics club and other small clubs, initiated by the Allies.
Sports
A special feature among the sports facilities is the low-energy sports hall; an award-winning building with solar use and water recovery.
In the immediate vicinity of the sports hall there is a climbing tower and an outdoor area for archers. The sports facilities are bordered by the Bauschheim forest. On 15 hectares, a fitness trail with 20 stations invites walkers as well as joggers and walkers into the forest. The Bauschheimer Rundweg, which runs six kilometers through and around Bauschheim, also crosses the forest. For cyclists there are signposted paths to the regional park route, which leads over the Mainspitze to Mainz and to Aschaffenburg.
Regular events
On May 27, 2018, the Kerbeplatz in Bauschheim was again, as in 2014, the starting point of the bicycle route of the " The Circle Rolls " campaign , which takes place every two years .
