Renate Pepper born Wester (born November 9, 1951 in Linz am Rhein ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

After secondary school, Pepper completed an apprenticeship as a tax assistant. From 1970 to 1976 she worked for the SPD parliamentary group in Bonn . She then studied at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Cologne before running her parents' grocery store in Linz until 1984. Then she ran a cabaret and a music publisher.

Pepper joined the SPD in 1971 and was elected to the district council of the Neuwied district in 1984. From 1991 to 2011 she was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . There she was among other things chairwoman of the committee for education and culture and cultural policy spokeswoman of her group. Between 1997 and her departure in 2011, she was deputy chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group. From 2003 to 2010 she headed the SPD district of Neuwied.

From 2001 to 2011 Renate Pepper chaired the assembly of the State Center for Media and Communication (LMK). In 2012 she was elected director of the LMK.
