Renato De Maria

Renato De Maria (* 1958 in Varese ) is an Italian director and screenwriter .

Life

De Maria graduated from the University of Bologna with a degree in philosophy and started at RAI , where he took over musical and documentary formats. In 1990 he co-founded the production company “Monochrome” and directed his first film for the cinema, Il trasloco , with which he supported, among other things, the “Laboratorio Cinematografico Pilastro” in his hometown. Again and again he made short films .

In 1996, the next film followed, with which De Maria found broader cinema use. He tells the story of a manager's deep life crisis in Milan and has been praised primarily for his photography. De Maria then returned to the small screen with the television series Distretto di polizia , which he made in 2000.

At the beginning of the new millennium, he began a series of four feature films, which he made about 3 years apart, including the remarkable La prima linea in 2009 . However, he continued to work for television.
