rencontres.de ( French for "encounters") was a German-French magazine that was published on the Internet from 2004 to 2010.

The specialty of rencontres was that all articles were translated and thus appeared in both languages, German and French. In addition, all content was accessible free of charge. The magazine was founded in October 2003 at the Free University of Berlin and first appeared in February 2004. Articles were published twice a month in eight sections, including politics, economics, history, society, education, art and culture.

In 2006 rencontres.de was awarded the Franco-German Journalism Prize and the European Language Seal.

The founder and director of the magazine was Johanna Heinen, who started the project when she was 23 years old. Their aim was to awaken and promote mutual interest in the culture and language of the neighboring country. In 2006, as editor-in-chief of rencontres.de , she was awarded the Franco-German Journalist Prize (Young Talent Prize), which she dedicated to the magazine.

A total of 300 students and young professionals, but also experienced journalists, cultural mediators and translators took part in the Franco-German magazine on a voluntary basis, including Anne-Solène Rolland , the current director of research and collections at the Musée du Louvre .

Together with Celine Moison, Heinen founded the rencontres eV association for rencontres.de in 2004. They were able to win ARTE, SR, DFJW, DFH and Klaus Wowereit as patrons.

In 2006 Johanna Heinen expanded the association with cultural projects. She achieved outstanding success with the Franco-German puppet theater Karl Toffel & Jeannette la Baguette for elementary school children, which was funded by the DFJW and the Robert Bosch Foundation. For this purpose, an additional website with educational games for primary school children was established and German and French artists were employed. Over 20 demonstrations took place. a. at the Goethe-Institut Paris and the Institut français in Paris.
