Rennequin Sualem

Rennequin Sualem (also Renkin Swalem or Renkin Sualem ; born January 29, 1645 in Jemeppe-sur-Meuse ; died July 29, 1708 ) was a Walloon carpenter and engineer.

Around 1668 he built a hydraulic machine to pump water from the Hoyoux to Modave Castle, about 60 meters higher .

At the instigation of the French King Louis XIV , he implemented Arnold de Ville's designs for the construction of Marly's machine . The pumping station supplied the water features at the Palace of Versailles with water. The king then appointed him "Premier Ingénieur du Roy".

Rennequin Sualem is buried in Bougival Church.
