Renner Springs is a small settlement in the Northern Territory of Australia . The place is in the center of the Barkly Tafelland . He calls himself the heart of beef country (The Heart of the Country Beef). The place is on the Stuart Highway north of the intersection between Barkly Highway and Tennant Creek . It is 662 kilometers to Alice Springs and 820 kilometers to Darwin . Renner Springs is seen as the border between the tropical Top End and the temperate Red Center of Australia.

history

The establishment of the place goes back to the construction of the Trans-Australian Telegraph Line. He was named after Dr. Frederick Renner (1821–1893), a Jena- born doctor and a son of the veterinarian Prof. Dr. Theobald Renner. Frederick Renner accompanied the construction of the telegraph line. He also observed the behavior of birds during the construction of the telegraph line and found water sources that were later called Mud Springs . The area around Renner Springs got its importance from these drinking water sources.

motel

In the 1950s, a motel was established in Renner Springs, which has a gas station, a bar and a restaurant. A campsite is affiliated. The building dates from the Second World War .
