Top end
The top end covers the northern part of the Australian Northern Territory (NT) above the Daly Waters and covers an area of approximately 400,000 square kilometers, which is one third of the total area of the Northern Territory. The top end includes most of the Northern Territory parishes , plus the cities of Darwin , Katherine , Pine Creek , Palmerston , Jabiru, and Mataranka . The Top End is the second northernmost area of Australia after the Cape York Peninsula .
National parks
The majority of the top end consists of the Arnhem Land as well as the Kakadu National Park bordering on the Arnhem Land . Other national parks within the top end include Nitmiluk National Park (formerly Katherine Gorge National Park) and Cutta Cutta Caves Nature Park .
