Irene Tordoff "Rennie" Fritchie, Baroness Fritchie , DBE (born April 29, 1942 in Fife , Scotland ) is a British civil servant and life peeress .

life and career

She attended Ribston Hall Grammar School for girls in Gloucester . Fritchie is also known by her nickname "Rennie".

She had a long career specializing in training and development. She is described as a "portfolio" worker and has held various positions in addition to the United Kingdom Commissioner for Public Appointments (1999-2005), including President of the Pennell Initiative for Women's Health in Later Life .

She was one of the first full-time women education advisors in the 1970s and pioneered staff training at the then-new Equal Opportunities Commission . In 1985 she received a German Marshall Fellowship and learned lessons from the United States for the United Kingdom for programs to improve the status of women. She responded to these in writing and in the media.

She was Chair of the Gloucester Health Authority from 1988 to 1992, the South Western Regional Health Authority from 1992 to 1994, and the South and West Regional Health Authority from 1994 to 1996 . Since 2007 Fritchie has served as Chair of the Independent Appointments Selection Board at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors . From 2007 to 2010 she was a member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Chair of the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman Audit Advisory Board .

In 2010 she was chairman ( Chairman ) of Nominet . She is an Honorary Professor in Creative Leadership at York University , Pro-Chancellor at the University of Southampton , Commissioner of the Civil Service from 1999 to 2005 and Vice-Chair of the Stroud and Swindon Building Society . She is active in some charity organizations. Fritchie chairs the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust in Gloucestershire and the 2gether Council of Governors, and was appointed Chancellor of the University of Gloucestershire in 2012.

She is a consultant for mainstream development ; Vice President of the British Lung Foundation ; Ambassador to Winston's Wish (who does grief work with children), Gloucestershire First and the Fife Council of St Andrews . She is also President of Women in Banking and Finance .

Membership in the House of Lords

Fritchie was on 31 May 2005 to life peer as Baroness Fritchie, of Gloucester in the Gloucestershire appointed. In the House of Lords she sits as CROSSBENCHER. The official launch took place on July 19, 2005 with the assistance of Julia Cumberlege, Baroness Cumberlege and Richard Wilson, Baron Wilson of Dinton . She gave her inaugural address on May 11, 2006 on medical research. In July 2006, she spoke up about the treatment of women in Iraq . For the last time so far (as of November 2012) she spoke up on March 8, 2007 on the development of the situation of women.

She lists China , New Zealand , Turkey and the USA as states of interest on the House of Lords website .

In 2006 and 2007 she took part in votes more often, but only three times in 2008. It did not participate in any voting in 2009 and only on a few occasions in 2010. In 2011 she voted more regularly again. In 2012, however, it has not yet participated in any voting (as of November 2012).

family

She married at the age of 18 and became a mother some time later. She raised her child alone.
