Renzo Bossi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Renzo Bossi (born September 8, 1988 in Varese ) is an Italian politician. He is the son of Umberto Bossi , the founder of the right-wing populist party Lega Nord and his wife Manuela Marrone, who is the co-founder of the autonomist movement Lega Lombarda (now part of Lega Nord). Renzo Bossi is also known in Italy as “Il trota” (in German: the [sic] trout and probably corresponds to the meaning of the carp), after his father called him that in 2008 when he was asked whether Renzo was his Dauphin (both Dauphin as well as dolphin correspond to the Italian delfino ).

Education

Renzo Bossi's school career came into the limelight when his father denounced the discrimination against “one of our boys” by the Abitur committee at a rally. This let the boy fall through the Abitur for his political convictions alone. It was later revealed that this boy was his son. Renzo Bossi got the higher education entrance qualification in July 2009 on the fourth attempt after he had failed the Abitur three times before.

On September 29, 2010, Renzo Bossi completed a three-year course ( Laurea triennale ) in management at the Albanian private university Kristal in Tirana . According to the university administration, he had been enrolled in the courses held in Albanian from the 2007/2008 academic year, i.e. before he obtained the general university entrance qualification . In the Italian media it is assumed that this is a purchased degree.

Political career

From the beginning he was included in the affairs of the Lega Nord by the family. He often appears at the side of his father, especially after his stroke in 2004. Renzo Bossi is the sports director of the Padan football department. In January 2009 he was elected to the “Supervisory Board for Transparency and Lombardy Exhibition Efficiency” of the Lega Nord. This election brought the Lega the charge of nepotism .

In the Lombard regional elections in 2010, Renzo Bossi was put up as a candidate for the province of Brescia . His age, just 22 at the time, and his difficult academic career, did not indicate a particularly pronounced political ability. This again provoked the charge of nepotism. The fight against nepotism was a central content of the Lega. Despite everything, Renzo Bossi was elected regional representative with 12,983 votes. As a member of the “I Commissione Programmazione e Bilancio” and the “II Commissione Affari Istituzionali” of the Lombardy Council, Renzo Bossi was absent from 51 of the 58 regional council meetings. In contrast, he attended the meetings of the “Commissione Affari Istituzionale” in 15 out of 30 cases. He was a speaker for a 500,000 euro regional law for legality courses.

On April 9, 2012, Renzo Bossi announced his resignation from his office in the Lombardy Regional Council. It had previously become known that the authorities had initiated investigations into embezzlement of party funds within the Lega Nord. The Provincial Coordinator for Brescia of the Lega Nord then demanded the expulsion of Renzo and his political foster mother Monica Rizzi from the party.
