Repsol Oil & Gas Canada Inc. (until 2015: Talisman Energy Inc. ) is a Canadian subsidiary of Repsol based in Calgary , Alberta .
Until the takeover in 2015, Talisman Energy was listed under ISIN = CA87425E1034 in the S & P / TSX 60 share index. In 2012, the company was Canada's sixth largest oil and gas production company.
history
Initially, the company was part of British Petroleum (BP). In 1992 the company became independent under the company name Talisman Energy . In 1998 the company Arakis Energy was acquired, which produced oil in Sudan . In 2003 Talisman Energy decided to withdraw from the oil business in Sudan.
In March 2011 , guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) or criminal gangs kidnapped more than 20 employees of a subsidiary of Talisman Energy near Cumaribo in the area of the Department of Vichada in Colombia .
In 2012, Talisman Energy sold 49 percent of its North Sea oil production to the Chinese company Sinopec for 1.5 billion dollars and announced that it would focus more strongly on the shale gas fields in North America and the oil fields in Southeast Asia.
In May 2015 Talisman Energy was taken over by the Spanish group Repsol . The company was in Repsol Oil & Gas Canada Inc. renamed.
