Republic ( Armenian Հանրապետություն Hanrapetutjun ) is a political party in Armenia , founded in April 2001 by former members of the Republican Party of Armenia , including former Prime Minister Aram Zarkissyan .

history

For the parliamentary elections in Armenia in 2017 , the party was part of the electoral alliance Jelk (or the way out alliance ), together with Nikol Paschinjan's civil contract party and Edmon Marukjan's Shining Armenia . The Alliance received 7.78% of the vote and then formed the third largest parliamentary group in the National Assembly. Among the nine members of the parliamentary group was only the party leader Aram Sarkissjan, who represented the Republic party .

The party originally announced that it would run for the early parliamentary elections in 2018 without an alliance . Eventually, she joined the Free Democrats in the alliance of the We-Alliance , but could no longer win a mandate for the alliance by reaching only 2%.
