Remnant

As residual Ling large boulders in geological units are referred to by the granite dominated. They can be up to about 5 meters tall and are rounded at the corners because this is where weathering is more aggressive.

In Central Europe they are mainly seen in the Bohemian Massif . If they are in agricultural corridors, farmers often put them with the tractor in sterile places so as not to be an obstacle to cultivation. Some of these blocks are stored unstably and are then called rocking stones .

On some peaks, up to 10 remnants can lie on top of each other, which were created by fissures from the previous summit structure. Well-known examples of such peaks are the Plöckenstein on the Austrian-Bavarian border or the Bärenstein in the north of Upper Austria .
