Rethberg is a small island in the outer lake of Schwerin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is located around 600 meters from the western shore of the lake, belongs to the area of the municipality of Lübstorf in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg and is nicknamed the island of love . The elongated island, rising only just above the water level, has an area of a good 20 acres . Some bushes and trees grow on it, the reed belt that used to surround it has largely lost the island.
