Cleberson Souza Santos , often just Cleberson , (born February 10, 1978 in Salvador da Bahia ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .

Career

As with many Brazilian footballers, Cleberson's career path cannot be reconstructed with absolute certainty. In 1996 the defender played for Clube do Remo in Pará state . Around 2000 he hired himself at Atlético Rio Negro Clube in the state of Amazonas before he played for Botafogo FR in the Brazilian championship in 2002 . He then worked at Bangu AC .

In 2004 he probably played for Al-Wahda in Saudi Arabia and after his return in early 2005 he joined his old club Clube do Remo. The next stop was AD Cabofriense , where he made headlines after kissing a referee on the cheek after a free kick whistle against him in April 2007 and seeing a yellow card.

In June 2007 he was signed as the fourth Brazilian by the newly formed New Zealand A-League team Wellington Phoenix and came to three league appearances in the early stages of the season. At the beginning of November 2007 he was released from his contract together with his compatriot George , as he no longer played a role in the further planning of Phoenix. Cleberson then returned to Brazil and played at América FC until mid-2008 .
