Reussendorf (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Reussendorf was a Lower Franconian village in what is today the Wildflecken military training area with 434 inhabitants in 1938.

location

The village was located 690 meters above sea level about two kilometers west of Wildflecken and was the highest village in Lower Franconia. The hamlet Silberhof , the individual farms Adamshof, Sarahof, Heinrichshof and the Fuchsmühle belonged to the place.

history

Reussendorf was founded in 1579 as Reußenhof, part of the appointment of the bishop's bailiff. The Reußenhof was originally a Swiss company . The Würzburg prince-bishop Johann Gottfried von Guttenberg offered the residents of Wildflecken to build a village in 1687. After nothing happened, Oberbacher offered themselves . In 1691 the construction of 18 farmsteads was negotiated with them. A school was built in 1803, the church was built in 1885 and a cemetery was laid out twelve years later in 1897; the residents had previously been buried in Oberbach.

Like others, the village was evacuated on April 1, 1938 because of the construction of the Wildflecken military training area. Those who helped were allowed to stay for the time being. The other residents moved to the Rhön , the greater Frankfurt area or southern Germany . On April 1, 1951, Reussendorf was dissolved with 259 inhabitants.

The former rural community Reussendorf consisted of the villages Reussendorf and Silberhof and covered 533.31 hectares . It was dissolved in 1942 and assigned to the Wildflecken Heeresguts district . The community had already resettled at the time of the 1939 census.
