Revolutionary honor weapon
The Revolutionary Honor Weapon ( Russian Почётное революционное оружие ) was an award for commanders of the Red Army .
The weapon represented a shashka (or, for members of the navy, a “cortik”, a naval dagger) with a gold-plated handle or a Mauser C96 pistol with the dedication engraved on a silver plaque “To the honorable fighter of the Red Workers 'and Peasants' Army [resp. Fleet] from the Central Executive Committee of the Union of the SSR [year] ”. In addition, a Red Banner Order was placed on all weapons .
The award was given to 21 officers from 1919 to 1930 . Of these, about half were shot during the later Stalin purges .
