from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The turret lathe operator was until 31 August 2013, a state-approved apprenticeship for Vocational Training Act (Vocational Training Act). He was replaced on August 1, 2013 by the specialist for metal technology.

Duration of training and structure

The training period to become a revolver lathe operator was usually two years. The training took place at the company and vocational school .

The profession was known as the “scrap metal profession”, as it existed before the Vocational Training Act came into force. He was recognized on October 19, 1938. According to Section 108 (1) BBiG, these professions were considered training professions within the meaning of Section 25 BBiG until regular training regulations were created.

Work areas

Turret lathes worked on so-called turret lathes , in which several turning tools are clamped in a tool turret (a rotatable holder) so that they can be changed quickly without re-clamping. They made workpieces from steel, non-ferrous metals or plastic. So the work had nothing to do with a handgun, the revolver . Rather, it was an Anglicism of English to revolve 'to turn' .

development

The 1938 training regulations for the profession were out of date. There was no training regulation with detailed content and modern examination requirements. The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training therefore examined this and other professions in 2009 before the Vocational Training Act came into force.

In its study, the BiBB came to the conclusion that some of these training occupations can be incorporated into a new training occupation. Since the turret lathe operator, however, was no longer in demand on the market for several years, was planned, the profession aside .
