Samuel Sam-Sumana

Samuel Sam-Sumana (born April 17, 1962 in Koidu , Kono District , Eastern Province ), mostly Sam Sumana for short , was Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone from September 17, 2007 to March 17, 2015 . He was a member of the All People's Congress (APC), but has been a member of the Coalition for Change Party since 2017 .

He is married to Khadija Sam-Sumana .

education

Sam Sumana attended the "Jaima Secondary School" in Kono and the "Ahmadiya Secondary School" in Freetown .

He graduated from Metropolitan State University , Minnesota , USA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems . He also holds a diploma in diamond studies from the America Institution of Diamond Cutting and Polishing , Deerfield Beach , Florida , USA and, as a computer network specialist, from the Knoll wood Computer and Business School , St. Louis Park , Minnesota, USA.

Professional career

Sumana worked as a system manager during his studies in the USA. Before his appointment as Vice President, he was the chairman of a Sierra Leonean construction company specializing in human resources management and the national diamond company. The development of his home region Kono was very important to him during the civil war .

Political career

On September 17, 2007, Sumana was named vice president. The appointment was based on his entrepreneurial knowledge, his contributions to the development of the Kono district and his leadership style.

As a candidate for the presidential election in Sierra Leone in 2018 , he won 3.5 percent of the vote.
