Rex maxon

Rex Hayden Maxon (born March 24, 1892 in Lincoln , Nebraska , † November 25, 1973 in the United States ) was an American comic artist .

Life

Maxon studied art in St. Louis and moved to New York in 1917, where he drew for several newspapers, including The Evening World , The Globe, and The Evening Mail . In 1929 he took over the daily strip Tarzan , which had been drawn by Hal Foster , which he continued until 1947 with a break in 1937 and 1938 and whose Sunday page he also drew from March to September 1931. In the years 1952 to 1971 Maxon mainly drew western comics. In collaboration with Matt Murphy, the Stone Age series Turok was created in 1954 , which, published by Bildschriftenverlag , was also published in German-speaking countries from 1967 to 1970. Maxon died in the United States in 1973 after moving to London a few years earlier to devote himself to painting.
