Reynold Janney
Reynold Janney (born July 4, 1858 near Martinsville , Clark Township , in the US state of Ohio , † October 7, 1938 probably in Chillicothe , Ross County , Ohio) was an American inventor .
In 1905, together with Harvey D. Williams, he developed a hydrostatic transmission in axial piston design, in which mineral oil was used as the transmission medium for the first time, thus establishing oil hydraulics .
In 1919 he received the Howard N. Potts Medal from the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia .
